Development of Gender responsive Pedagogy Guidelines Workshop
On 14th-15th December 2018, LGIHE participated in a workshop of critical stakeholders to chart a way forward for the development of Gender responsive Pedagogy Guidelines as one of the strategic actions to increase Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) participation and uptake among school children. This is attributed to the girls’ underrepresentation in STEM subjects at all levels of education, particularly, in mathematics and the physical sciences where their performance continues to deteriorate compared to that of the boys. This initiative is being steered by the Department of Science, Technical and Vocational Education, School of Education – Makerere University.
